I am wondering again. I received a text message from a former friend today.

I have been sending text messages to this person before asking how she is, several times for months since I left the account until I gave up because she never got back to me. I tried calling her landline but she is always not around or she lets the maid say on her behalf that she is busy... I try to IM her at work but she never responds...

Today she sent me a text message and called me to ask for a favor, and her number is still the same.

With no "How are yous" whatsoever... she just bluntly mentioned the favor that she wanted from me. She was so persistent that she couldn't wait for my reply and began to call me... expecting me to say yes.

Then I wondered.... aren't friends supposed to keep in touch even if they don't need a favor from the other? I'm not asking for much. There are a lot of friends from my old account who I am not that close with but they still keep in touch. They text me or IM me once a month but I know they are still there. Some send me a quick "Hi" through my blog or through Friendster. Nagpaparamdam kumbaga... and that means a lot to me.

I said "Long time no hear" Then she said "I was really busy." Then I asked "What happened to you?" Then she said "Nothing much, I just had no time to text you about petty stuff." Then I said "How are you?" Then she said "Can you do the favor I am asking or not?"

Hmmm... talk about rapport, huh? Considering we were part of a customer service team before.

I am sorry, but too much water has passed under the bridge. You are already part of the "Former Friends" list.
